My name is Michael Houston and I was awarded a grant from the Holywood Trust. After suffering a knee injury in 2015, I turned my attention to my coaching badges – and started working through these in 2016 thanks to the help and generosity of the Holywood Trust.
I gained 10 different qualifications as a result of this, with the most prestigious being my SFA C Licence. Subsequently, this helped me gain my first coaching role, as First Team Coach at Threave Rovers FC – who were competing in the Lowland League at the time of appointment, the fifth tier of Scottish Football.
Since then, I have gained further qualifications through my UEFA B Licence, and have also progressed as Assistant Manager of Threave Rovers FC. This is my fifth season at Threave Rovers, where I now take full responsibility of all coaching at the club. I have also gained a 2:1 Honours Degree in Sports Coaching and Development, gained coaching experience at Rangers FC and was also awarded Coach of the Year in 2015.
Without the help of the Holywood Trust, this would not have been possible and I will always be grateful for the support you have given me over the years.
