Case Study - Jennifer
Jennifer approached the Holywood Trust to request support for starting her degree course in Physics. In her application to she provided details of the support she would receive from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) - she would be receiving the full amount of Young Student Bursary and the additional loan amount available.
Reading through her application it became clear that, although she would be receiving the maximum support available from SAAS, her mother would struggle to help her financially in any way. Jennifer’s mother was a single parent who was raising Jennifer and her two younger brothers on her own with a very limited income from her job.
The Trust provided Jennifer a grant which would help purchase some of course text books and to assist with her travel costs to return home for the occasional visit.
