Support for Organisations

Info

The Holywood Trust provides grants to organisations working with or for young people in Dumfries and Galloway.

The financial support provided by the Trust has assisted youth clubs to start, buildings and equipment to be built/purchased, group development activities to take place and for training to be provided to those working with young people. The Trustees are particularly interested in helping to fill gaps in provision and to support innovative ideas.

Your organisations should be appropriately constituted and demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities.

See our Question and Answers section below; any other queries can be discussed with staff. Contact the Trust offices where our staff will be pleased to help.

Questions and Answers

How much can my organisation apply for?
There is no minimum or maximum amount of financial support that you can apply for. Grants can be a few hundred pounds or several thousand pounds. The level of support will be determined by various factors, but the main ones are the extent to which the funding will address the priorities determined by the Trustees (Trust staff will be able to advise on current priorities) and/or fill a gap in local provision. Other factors include the amount of other funding that will be made available (ie. leverage), the number and background of the young people who will benefit from the organisation's work and other demands for funding.

How long will it take for my application to be considered?
The Trustees usually meet every three months - normally March, June, September and December, but will in exceptional circumstances occasionally consider urgent applications in between meetings (our form asks for you to state any deadline to which you are working).

Can I make more than one application?
We generally only make one award for a particular project, but the Trustees are interested in supporting activities which are innovative and show high quality rather than "quantity".

Who decides whether I receive some support from the Trust?
It is entirely at the discretion of the Trustees whether an applicant is supported.

How do I apply?
Fill in our application form and return it to our office. This is available as a download or you can 'phone our office to request a copy and to obtain further information or clarification.
