Jennifer approached the Holywood Trust to request support for starting her degree course in Physics.  In her application to us she provided details of the support she would receive from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland she would be receiving the full amount of Young Student Bursary and the additional loan amount available.

Reading through her application it became clear that, although she would be receiving the maximum support available from SAAS, her Mum would struggle to help her in any way.  Dad had died several years earlier after a long illness and Mum was left to bring up Jennifer and her two younger brothers on her own with a very limited income from her job.

The Trustees agreed to provide an award which would help Jennifer purchase some of her text books and to help with her travel costs to return home for the occasional visit.
